IFMSA Sub Regional Trainings (SRT) are pillar initiatives in the realm of the Federation’s efforts in providing ways to empower young leaders worldwide. For us, a SRT becomes relevant when it is able to change the life of its participants right from the day after we say goodbye to each others.
T4All 2021 is about setting a new starting point for everyone involved and letting a brighter tomorrow be born. Being the city where Portugal was born many centuries ago, Guimarães is the ultimate symbol of our mission, as it represents the birthplace of something bigger.1
THE CITY
GUIMARÃES, WHERE PORTUGAL WAS BORN
The city of Guimarães, located in the North of Portugal, is one of the most ancient Portuguese cities, being founded during the 10th century. It is the symbol of the foundation of Portugal as a nation, since it is believed thatit is the birthplace of Dom Afonso Henrique, Portugal’s first king. Moreover, it is also believed that the Battle of São Mamede, the event that lead to the independence of the previously known as County of Portugal from the Kindgom of León, took place in the surroundings of Guimarães.
Due to this historical background, Guimarães is a landmark of the Portuguese History and is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
